About Us

Learn about the Meridian Development Corporation and our mission to revitalize our community.

Who We Are

The Meridian Development Corporation (MDC) was formed in 2001 to act as the urban renewal agency for the City of Meridian. We serve our community and its residents by enhancing the vibrancy of our city, creating great places to live, work and play, fostering new economic opportunities and investing in public infrastructure projects to improve our connectivity.

Initially, MDC oversaw one urban renewal district in the heart of downtown. Today, there are five urban renewal districts across Meridian. Each district was carefully identified and designed to bring targeted investment into parts of the city that are underdeveloped or underinvested in. Our work helped jumpstart the development at Ten Mile, brought new housing in downtown and revitalized the storefronts of many small businesses.

MDC is governed by a ten-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Meridian Mayor and City Council for rotating three-year terms. The Board meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30 a.m. and the fourth Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Meridian City Hall. Meetings are open to the public.
